Diving facilities

At the Lovén Centre there are trained diving supervisors and diving personell able to give dive support to research projects. Pricing for this is equivalent to staff salary costs under defined mission.

Both field stations has a Diving facility.

There are compressors to fill the breathing air (200 and 300 bar). Compressors are serviced once a year and air quality checked at least once a year. Air filters are changed regularly.

Safety equipment, to borrow in the Diving facility: Oxybox, first aid kit, knife, alpha flag, rescue net, current lines and lifelines.

When diving, you should bring communication devices such as mobile phone or, in areas not covered by mobile phone, handheld VHF. There is VHF to borrow, at Kristineberg in reception and at Tjärnö from Eric Bergwall. It requires certificates for regular VHF communication, but in emergency anyone can use VHF.

Boats for diving can be rented from the field stations.

At Tjärnö there are 30 sets of snorkel equipment (mask, snorkel, wetsuit, fins and weight belt) for lending.

In both field stations' Diving facilities you can rinse, dry and store diving equipment and perform basic maintenance. Adjacent to the Diving facilities we also has shower, sauna and locker rooms.
