The Sven Lovén Centre for Marine Sciences offers several research vessels, ther larger research vessels Skagerak, Oscar von Sydow and Nereus, as well as the smaller vessel Doris. At the Lovén Centre there are additional smaller boats, all moored at Kristineberg and Tjärnö stations.
Skagerak is the largest research vessel at The Lovén Centre.
The ships have access to a wide range of sampling equipment for both open water and sediment, including plankton nets, dredges, CTD, rosette sampler, ”multiple corer”, piston corer, box corer, Scanfish, remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROV), etc.
About ten smaller boats with outboards are available at the two stations of the Lovén Centre.
Our Remotely Operated underwater Vehicles (ROV:s) of different sizes and equipment are useful in education, research and outreach activities.
